Tracy Donovan came to woodworking through boat-building, starting with a cedar-strip canoe built under her grandfather's supervision, and later as an apprentice to a shipwright. She designs and builds tables and shelves with winding lines, just enough structure to have integrity, maximized open spaces, and contrasting colors by way of combining woods and oil paints. Her deepest motivation is a search for Home, which in woodworking is expressed as bringing some of the lines and shapes of the natural world indoors.
