I see a combination of
elegance, primitiveness, and whimsy in much of my work. I like to incorporate distinction in
material, color, texture and shape.
I love the structure and utility of natural tree parts and often include
these in even my more traditional pieces. I can’t resist the visual contrast
between the natural elegance of wood, just as it grew, with the more refined
dimensional parts of my projects.
I have worked in
numerous art media, many of which I incorporate into my current work of creating
abstract furniture and other functional art. My pieces are composed primarily of
wood, with highlights of metal, leather, stained glass, ceramic, paint,
etc. More than anything else I feel
like a sculptor, wherein my sculptures often have utility. I find my art
expresses part of me I can express in no other way. My work is intended to provoke
thought and interpretation in the minds of my audience.
After spending most of
my life in the corporate world, I’m feeling wonderfully at home in my pursuit of
artistic expression.
